ESL To Host Dota 2 Spring Major in May in Stochkolm
ESL have announced that they will host the upcoming Dota 2 major in May in Stockholm, Sweden. The tournament will be played in a LAN-setting, with its final days being held in front of a live audience at Hovet Arena with a 8000 capacity.
The event will feature eighteen teams competing for a $500,000 prize pool and 3530 DPC-points. The tournament’s line-up will be based on the results of the second tour or Dota Pro Circuit 2021/2022, which will begin on March 15th and run until April 22nd. It will include four teams from both Western Europe and China, three teams from both Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia, and two teams from both North America and South America.
There will be two stages – the group stage and the playoffs. The first one is scheduled for May 12th – 17th and will feature two round-robin groups with best-of-two series. Then top four teams per group will advance to the upper bracket, while the teams placed 5-6th will play in the lower bracket. The playoffs is scheduled for May 18th – 22nd, its finale will be best-of-five.
Earlier VALVE cancelled the Winter Major and replaced it with a series of Regional DPC finals. This weekend they concluded in Western Europe, Southeast Asia and South America, where the first places were taken by Gladiators, BOOM Esports, and beastcoast respectively. The rest of the finals will be played on February 18th – 20th.
